Monday 17th to Sunday 23rd August 2009
TASTE KILDARE this year included a week-long celebration of local flavours - culminating in the Walled Gardens of The K Club on Sunday 23rd August.
Starting on Monday 17th August, this year's event included county wide tastings, free tours and
demonstrations from the farms and workshops of participating food producers.
Participating Restaurants enjoyed great success with their week long special Taste Kildare themed
menu - 'Dine for €30'.
The, on Sunday 23rd August the week culminated in the'Tastekildare' Day, of fabulous food and
family fun in the Victorian
walled garden of The K Club.
The day proved to be a huge celebration of local food and crafts with over 14,000 visitors chatting with producers and top chefs and enjoying the cookery demonstrations. The sound of happy children
and adults laughing was everywhere as they enjoy golf competitions, fishing on the Liffey, horse riding and face painting. Several adults showed their true competitive nature in the 'Duck Race' on the river Liffey while others enjoyed the Wine
Cellar and Art Tours in The K Club Hotel. Performing live and keeping that festival feeling on the day was the Harlequin Event Band - great music for a wonderful day.
All monies raised at the event was donated to Enable Ireland who provide essential
services such as physiotherapy, speech & language therapy, occupational
therapy and psychology. This charity is currently building a new state
of the art €4.5million premises at Jigginstown, Naas.
